A linear motion axis designed to extend the working envelope of Universal Robots UR3, UR5, UR10, and UR16 cobots, providing strokes up to 3000 mm at speeds reaching 0.3 m/s.
This igus 7th axis linear system integrates with Universal Robots UR3, UR5, UR10, and UR16 models to expand the robot's effective working area by up to four times.
The system uses a stepper motor drive and delivers travel speeds up to 0.3 m/s with repeat accuracy of ±0.3 mm.
This 1,000 mm stroke configuration handles radial loads up to 500 N and axial loads up to 250 N.
Standard stroke lengths extend to 3,000 mm, with longer strokes available on request.
The system integrates with UR+ software through URCap, allowing kinematics control directly from the robot's programming environment.
Inverse kinematics are not integrated into the control software and must be managed through the URCap interface.
This configuration does not include an energy chain.
Typical applications include machine tending, material handling, and assembly processes where extended horizontal reach improves cycle efficiency without requiring a larger robot or multiple work cells.
